The new 1.5 version brings new levels, enemies, and some highly anticipated features with Ginger Island, which is a new regional Island added in the Fern Islands. The Ginger Island is loaded with interesting content and rare items to collect and allows players to explore the fiery dungeons and new items and plants to stew some recipes.
How to Get to Ginger Island in Stardew Valley
After downloading the update, you will receive a letter from Willy the Fisherman. In this letter, Willy will ask you to visit and help him with a certain matter which is not mentioned in the letter.
On reaching Willy’s location, he will ask you to repair his Fisherman boat, which will be your ticket to Ginger Island. Completing this task sounds so simple, doesn’t it? But you will need certain items and tools to repair Willy’s boat. The Fisherman Boat owned by Willy will require three kinds of repairs, requiring their own items and resources. Such as:
- Fix the Boat: 200 Hardwood Pieces
- Anchor Repair: 5 Iridium Bars
- Ticket Machine Fixing: 5 Battery Packs
You can find these items fairly easily in the game. For the Hardwood, you will have to chop a few Mahogany Trees and collect 200 Hardwood Pieces from them by cutting the logs or stumps.
To gain Iridium Bars, you will have to use a furnace to melt one coal piece and 5 iridium ores.
Lastly, to obtain the battery packs you need to generate them from lightning rods or you can visit a Travelling cart and buy battery packs from there.
Repairing the boat is necessary and should be your primary focus as you cannot access Ginger Island without repairing the boat. After collecting all the items and interacting with the boat, the boat will be repaired and you can use it to access Ginger Island by spending 1000 gold, which is worth it as Ginger Island has various rare items and some useful resources.
